San Luis Obispo area boxing

From: doublesaj12 (Doublesaj@aol.com) | Date: 2004-11-29 18:55:07 UTC

Did a little boxing over the Thanksgiving holiday and turned up the
following:

Alive and well:

Los Osos Oaks Series (4) by Ryan (DON'T miss this one!!)
Mission SLO de Tolosa by Sierra Sally (nice stamp!)
The Other Building by Jugglermouse (had a nice chat with her in the
book store too!)
SLO Halloween Box by Buzzard (His stamps are the BEST!)
Who's Cow by Sleuth (Interesting spot)
Hand of Sauronam by Sir B.
December 26th by Maasmen (this family was playing tennis at this park
when we were hunting and came up to us and said, "Are you
letterboxers?" So
Cool!!)

Missing
Eye of Sauron (confirmed by Jugglermouse)
Mill Street
Sunflash the Mace (Redwall Series)

We are planning a trip to the SLO area in the spring, specifically
to letterbox. How many days do you think we should plan if we want
to do a "comprehensive search" of the area? :-) Thanks for your
august and experienced estimate.

The first time I went there in June of '03, I got 28 boxes in 36
hours--including sleeping and eating. The next time about 10 more and this time, 8-10
again. Although some have been pulled (some of Sir Balthazar's) I would plan to
spend 2 days of just boxing. There are several long 2-5 mile hikes (Ryan
Carpenter's boxes) one of which is written in Spanish!! If you're up for those, add a
day. There are many more in Cambria, Arroyo Grande, Los Osos and Morro Bay,
all of which are within 20 miles of SLO.

Maybe, 3 days. . .

San Luis has a nice combination of Long hikes with multiple
letterboxes and drive-bys...as well as challenging clues for some of
the boxes. Hope you guys have a great time while you are there! Be
sure to visit the Men's Room at the Madonna Inn (It really ought to
have a letterbox!!!)
